Overview
A clean optical path is essential for successful Midas prints. Dust, fingerprints, resin, and streaks on the print glass can distort projected images and cause print failures. Regular cleaning helps maintain accuracy and overall system performance. This article explains how to properly clean the Midas print glass and touchscreen using approved materials.
Before You Begin
- Before starting the cleaning process, confirm the following:
- Check for fingerprints, resin spots, or visible debris on the glass.
- Ensure all required cleaning supplies are available.
- Inspect the glass under bright light or with a flashlight to identify smudges or residue.
What You’ll Need
Prepare the following items:
- Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), 91 percent or higher
- High-quality glass or optics cleaner (such as Windex)
- Shop towels or other non-abrasive, lint-free wipes
- Do not spray liquids directly onto the printer. Apply all cleaning products to a towel before use.
How to Clean the Midas Print Glass
1. Access the Print Glass
- Remove the red template from the top of the Midas.
- This exposes the optical glass where the projector light passes during printing.
2. Clean with IPA
- Apply a small amount of IPA to a shop towel.
- Wipe the entire glass surface thoroughly to remove dust, resin residue, and fingerprints.
3. Remove Streaks with a Glass Cleaner
- Apply glass or optics cleaner to a shop towel.
- Wipe the glass again to remove streaks and ensure a clear, smudge-free surface.
- Confirm the glass is completely dry before printing.
After cleaning, the print glass and touchscreen should appear clear, dry, and free of debris, resin, or streaks. Maintaining clean optics supports consistent light projection and improves overall printing reliability.
Cleaning the Touchscreen (Optional)
If the touchscreen requires cleaning:
- Enable Screen Cleaning Mode: Settings → Device → Screen Cleaning Mode
- Apply IPA to a shop towel and wipe the touchscreen surface.
- Follow with a small amount of glass cleaner to achieve a streak-free finish.
- Exit cleaning mode by holding the on-screen button for 5 seconds.
