D4K: External Cleaning and Maintenance

Discover effective techniques and tips for external cleaning and maintenance to enhance the longevity of your D4K.

Cleaning the Glass Panel

The glass panel is taped down with two small pieces of tape on the edge.

  1. Take the glass panel out of the printer. Check whether there is any smuggling, streaking, or material spots anywhere on the glass. If so, proceed with further steps for cleaning the glass panel.
  2. Spray a small amount of alcohol directly on the paper towel.
Important: Do not spray alcohol anywhere in the printer or directly on the glass panel.
  3. Wipe down the glass panel on both the front and back sides to clean the residue off.
  4. Take the microfiber cloth and spray a small amount of lens or window cleaner on it.
  5. Wipe down the glass panel with the cloth and make sure that it is dry in the end.
Important: Make sure the glass panel is absolutely clean so that there is no smudging, streaking, or material spots anywhere on it.
  6. Put the glass panel back into the printer. There are tapes on right and left side, so you have to press those pieces right back onto the glass.

Cleaning the Printer Casing

The printer’s metal casing protects the internal components from damage. To avoid spilling material on the casing, always hold a paper towel under the build platform and the material tray while installing or removing it. Once spilled, the material cures to the casing and it is difficult to remove it.

  1. Wipe the spilled material as soon as it touches the printer before it cures.
  2. Remove the majority of the spill with a dry paper towel first, then lightly spray a second paper towel with IPA and wipe away any residue.

Cleaning the Touch Screen

Sticky spots on the touchscreen can make it difficult to press buttons or navigate the interface effectively.

  1. Spray the lens cleaner onto a clean paper towel.
  2. Gently wipe the surface of the touch screen.
