IPA Disposal Guidelines

A brief guide on how to safely dispose of used isopropyl alcohol from ProWash S.

Overview

Used IPA from the ProWash must be handled as hazardous waste. Improper disposal can damage plumbing, harm the environment, and violate local regulations. This guide outlines safe storage, handling, and disposal requirements.

When IPA Must Be Disposed

IPA should be discarded when:

• Hydrometers float
• Cleaning performance decreases
• The touchscreen prompts replacement
• IPA is heavily saturated from ceramic or high-volume printing

Once IPA is removed from the machine, it must be collected and disposed of properly.

How to Store Used IPA

Before transporting or holding IPA for disposal:

• Keep IPA in its original container whenever possible
• If transferring to another container, use a clearly labeled, chemical-safe container
• Keep containers sealed to prevent evaporation and fumes
• Store away from heat sources, flames, electrical sparks, or direct sunlight

How to Dispose of IPA

IPA is classified as hazardous waste and must never be poured down a drain.

To dispose of IPA:

• Bring used IPA to a certified hazardous waste disposal facility
• Follow your local, state, or federal hazardous material regulations
• Contact your local Environmental Protection Agency office for locations
• Many regions offer scheduled household or commercial hazardous waste collection days

Additional Safety Notes

• Do not mix IPA with other solvents before disposal
• Do not dispose of IPA in trash bins or open containers
• Follow workplace safety policies if disposing through an office or shared facility
